Both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports stressed that operations remained largely unaffected and that no flights were cancelled as a result of the fuel shortage.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport said efforts were quickly put in place to restore fuel stock levels through overnight deliveries.

“A short-term staffing issue has affected one of the fuel suppliers used by airlines at the airport, with work underway to return stock levels to normal,” the spokesperson said.

“There have been no related flight cancellations.”

Airport authorities also confirmed that the disruption was not connected to any wider geopolitical events or international fuel supply issues.

Despite delays affecting some passengers, officials said flights continued to reach their destinations, and the situation had been resolved by Monday following the arrival of additional fuel supplies.

Travellers have been advised to continue checking with their airlines for the latest flight information, although airports expect normal operations to continue without further disruption.
